What Is Burlesque?

Burlesque is a type of live performance that’s all about the art of the tease. It’s been around since the early 1900s, and makes many people think of old-school cabarets and speakeasies with women in martini glasses, or musicals like Chicago.

Modern-day burlesque, also known as neo-burlesque, marries comedy and sensual dancing to create a unique and fun performance. At Booty Burlesque, we incorporate pole dancing, fire spinning, fire eating, striptease, twerk, traditional dance performances, comedy, and circus arts to provide a one-of-a-kind night out in L.A. 

Booty Burlesque uses current music to put an updated twist on burlesque. If you’re looking for something fun to do in L.A. or Long Beach, a date night idea, or a girl’s night out activity - Booty Burlesque is for you!
Each show has a unique theme, like the 80s or 7 Deadly Sins, so each show is unique and repeat audience members will always have a great time. 

One of our favorite aspects of burlesque is how inclusive it is. Size, gender, and ethnicity don’t matter - all that matters is creating an accepting space for performers and audience members to have fun! 

Burlesque is different from a strip club - while there is some audience participation, it’s more limited and perfect for folks who are a bit more shy or haven’t been to a sensual performance before. Learn all about what to expect at your first burlesque performance here.
